Atlantic City FC Clinches The Number One Seed with A Win Over FC Motown 2-1

By Michael Heilman

The stage was set, both Atlantic City FC and FC Motown were gunning for the number one seed in the Keystone Conference. Atlantic City FC was riding a four-game winning streak looking for number five.

Atlantic City FC got the upper hand with some early chances to take the lead. However, FC Motown struck first in the 27th minute as Matt Nigro rebounded the ball off of Charlie Cunliffe to send one to the middle of the net to give FC Motown a 1-0 lead. Seven minutes later, Atlantic City FC Striker Michael Bello tied the game up in the 34th minute off of a corner kick to the lower left goal post to make it a 1-1 game. This was Bello’s first goal of the season. Atlantic City had a chance to take the lead nearing halftime when Walter Calderon’s shot bounced off of the lower right crossbar as the whistle was blown to signal halftime tied 1-1.

Ten minutes into the second half, mother nature rolled in and caused an over two-hour weather delay. When the game resumed, FC Motown had numerous chances to regain the lead only for the Aces defense to come through. Charlie Cunliffe was making great saves throughout the second half. The Aces would go on to take the lead in the 90+ stoppage time when Striker Alex Satrustegui sealed the game with the help from Jacques Francois and Jacob Rubinstein, who positioned himself to rocket the ball passed FC Motown Goalkeeper David Greczek to give the Aces the win 2-1. This latest goal by Satrustegui gives him seven goals for the season. Satrustegui was named Man of the Match.

With this win, the Aces clinch the number one seed in the Keystone Conference and will face the Philadelphia Lone Star FC in the Keystone Conference Semifinals Tuesday night. The Aces finish the regular season with 7 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie.
