The NASCAR Xfinity Series returned to Homestead-Miami Speedway to finish the doubleheader Sunday afternoon in the Contender Boats 250. There was also another prize up for grabs, and that was the Dash for Cash. The only drivers that could compete for the Dash for Cash worth $100,000 were Noah Gragson, AJ Allmendinger, Justin Haley, and Daniel Hemric. Before the race began, NASCAR implemented a competition caution for lap 20.
Several drivers were sent to the rear of the field including Daniel Hemric (driver change), Dale Earnhardt Jr. ran in yesterday’s race, Justin Allgaier (Back-up car, and driver change), Jairo Junior Avila (Back-up car, and driver change), Kody Vanderwal (Back-up car), and Noah Gragson (unapproved adjustment). Chevrolets made up the first five spots with Myatt Snider on the pole and Brandon Brown starting second. Snider chose the inside lane putting Brown on the outside lane to start the race.

On the first lap, Ross Chastain, who started in the seventh position, passed every car in front of him to take the lead. Chase Briscoe also got by Snider for the second position. After starting in the rear of the field, Noah Gragson made his way to the seventeenth position on the third lap. On the ninth lap, Chase Briscoe got by Ross Chastain for the lead. A couple of laps later, Austin Cindric made his way around Chase Briscoe for the lead. Noah Gragson was now in the tenth position on lap 11.

Gragson made it to the sixth position when the competition caution came out on lap 21. Caesar Bacarella got the free pass. Some of the lead lap cars pitted, including Ryan Sieg from the 12th position along with Colin Garrett, B.J McLeod, Kyle Weatherman, Bayley Currey, Timmy Hill, Chad Finchum, Josh Williams, Riley Herbst, Alex Labbe, Matt Mills, Caesar Bacarella, and Stefan Parsons. During the pit stops, Timmy Hill’s gas man tripped on a tire behind him. The gas man got up and was ok.
Austin Cindric led the field back to the restart on lap 25, choosing the inside lane putting Chase Briscoe on the outside. Two laps into the restart, a pair of cars worked their way up the field after starting in the rear; they were Justin Allgaier, who was in the fourth position, and right behind him was Noah Gragson. On lap 33, Caesar Bacarella and Tommy Joe Martins made contact to bring out the second caution of the race.

Under the caution, Ross Chastain pitted from the 13th position. Michael Annett, Brandon Brown, Alex Labbe, and Matt Mills also pitted. Cindric continued to lead, selecting the inside lane putting Ryan Sieg on the outside lane as the race restarted on lap 37. Sieg went around Cindric for the lead. Cindric lost another spot to Michael Annett, dropping him to third. Ryan Sieg would go on to win stage one. Tommy Joe Martins would get the free pass.
Ross Chastain, Justin Allgaier, and Stefan Parsons stayed out while the rest pitted led by Austin Cindric. He was the first off of pit road. Both Allgaier and Parsons pitted a lap later, leaving Chastain as the leader. During Allgaier’s pit stop, his car hit the tire that was in the hands of the tire carrier for Ryan Sieg’s team. Chastain selected the inside lane putting Cindric on the outside as stage began on lap 48. Brandon Jones went for the lead and got it while Chastain dropped to fourth place.

Cindric would get the lead from Jones on lap 51. Brandon Brown headed to pit road, and his crew lifted the hood. On lap 57, Noah Gragson and Joe Graf Jr were engaged in a great battle for the second position. On lap 68, Gragson took the lead from Cindric, and there was trouble for Ross Chastain as he got into the wall running in the tenth position. Ryan Sieg would lose a lap after his crew put on 20 lap scuffs on his car. Noah Gragson would go on win stage two on lap 81. Gragson was not only one stage away from victory, but also winning the Dash for Cash.
All of the lead lap cars pitted for four tires and fuel with Gragson winning the race off of pit road with Chase Briscoe second. Brandon Brown was eleven laps down, and his car headed for the garage. Gragson and Briscoe led the field back to green on lap 90 to start the final stage.
Three laps into the restart, Austin Cindric went low to take the lead from Gragson. After a slow pit stop, Justin Allgaier made his way up to the sixth position getting by Harrison Burton. On lap 106, Gragson would get the lead back from Cindric after Cindric’s car got into the wall. He came in a lap later with a flat fire. Scheduled green flag pit stops began on lap 117 as Justin Haley pitted from the tenth position. Riley Herbst came in four laps later, Harrison Burton, Justin Allgaier, Joe Graf Jr came in at lap 122, but Graf Jr missed his pit box locking up the tires. A lap later, Gragson pitted with a six-second lead, and Chase Briscoe pitted at lap 124.
Josh Williams was the last car to pit at lap 126, relinquishing the lead back to Noah Gragson. On lap 145, Justin Allgaier got into the wall at turn four running in the fourth position. He lost a tire in the process and came down to pit road. Anthony Alfredo also pitted after getting into the wall from the 14th position.
Gragson’s lead was just down to two seconds as Chase Briscoe was closing in on lap 157. There was trouble for Harrison Burton after making contact with the wall he pitted from the fifth position. Gragson’s lead was down to just a second as Briscoe got into the wall chasing him down. Austin Cindric spun on turn four, hitting the outside wall to bring out the fifth caution of the race and send the race into overtime. All of the lead lap cars pitted with Chase Briscoe winning the race off of pit road and Noah Gragson coming out second.

Briscoe and Gragson led the field to overtime on lap 171. On the backstretch, Riley Herbst was hit from behind by AJ Allmendinger which sent his car into both Michael Annett and Daniel Hemric, Hemric made contact with the inside wall. Because Briscoe did not get to the white flag, the race was now heading to double overtime.

Chase Briscoe chose the inside lane putting Brandon Jones on the outside lane with Noah Gragson third and AJ Allmendinger fourth to start double overtime on lap 175. Noah Gragson did make contact with the wall, but the race stayed green. Briscoe made it to the line to take the white flag, and regardless of what happened, this was over. Chase Briscoe would hold off Brandon Jones to win the Contender Boats 250 Sunday afternoon. AJ Allmendinger would win the $100,000 Dash for Cash.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Brandon Jones second, Ross Chastain third, AJ Allmendinger fourth, Noah Gragson fifth, Justin Haley sixth, Myatt Snider seventh, Harrison Burton eighth, Riley Herbst ninth, and Austin Cindric tenth. There were 20 lead changes by eight drivers and six cautions for 28 laps.
The Xfinity Series will now head to Talladega Superspeedway next Saturday for the Unhinged 300 at 5:30 pm on FS1.
