With only two races left in the IMSA Prototype Challenge season, every position is crucial. Saturday at Mid-Ohio Keith Grant won the pole for Forty7 Motorsports with a lap time of 1:20.595 seconds at 100.859 mph. Dom Cicero qualified second with a lap time of one minute and 1:20.689 seconds at 100.742 mph for MLT Motorsports.

David Grant dominated in the early part of the race with a 3.541 second lead on Cicero. He lapped his teammate Joel Janco; however, Janco was fighting to stay on the lead lap and spun into the grass at turn two. Cicero would come to pit road with 52 minutes left in the race as Dakota Dickerson took over. David Grant would come to pit road leading by 48 seconds over Steve Thomas with under 47 minutes left as his brother Keith Grant took over the ride. Steve Thomas led a couple of laps before pitting as Keith Grant resumed the lead.
Dakota Dickerson caught Keith Grant with 40 minutes left. Dickerson would take the lead from Grant at turns eight and nine two minutes later. The race ran caution-free until Paul LaHaye was late on the brakes at turn four and drove into the gravel pit, to bring out the caution with 33 minutes left. Dickerson led the field back to green with 27 minutes left in the race.
Dickerson pulled away on the restart while Keith Grant lost several positions, dropping down to sixth place. Late in the race, Scott Andrews was battling Stevan McAleer for fifth and broke late at turn four and went into the gravel trap. Upfront, Dakota Dickerson brought home the checked flag for their first win of the season by 6.672 seconds over Matthew Bell.

The IMSA Prototype Challenge will have their final race of the season in three weeks at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta at 9:05 am on NBC Sports Gold Track Pass.
