The green flag run only lasted six laps before Bobby Hillis Jr. spun his car at turn two to bring out the first caution of the evening. His car would have an oil leak, and his day came to an end with a 11th place finish. Love would lead the field back to green on the tenth lap. Debris, at turn three, would bring out the second caution of the evening on lap 38. The race would resume on lap 42 with Love having led all of the laps so far.
.@BlainePerkins21 moves up to P2 on lap 34. @jesselovejr1 continues to lead. Still a long way to go at @cnsracing!#ARCAMenards • West pic.twitter.com/ggC5DazWMx — ARCA Menards Series (@ARCA_Racing) August 22, 2020
Love would lead an additional 66 laps before debris out in turn two would bring out the third caution of the day with Todd Souza getting the free pass. The race resumed on lap 113 as Blaine Perkins led a lap before Love took back the lead. Perkins tried to make a move on Love several times to take the air away and get a side draft but love didn’t budge. Perkins did get into the left quarter panel of Love’s car, but backed off then Gio Scelzi passed him for second before clashing with Love for the lead.

Scelzi was unable to take the lead from Love when the fourth caution would come out for a spin by Todd Souza on turn two. The race got back underway on lap 138 with Love still in the lead. Perkins would hit Love’s bumper then hit his side to take the lead while Gio Scelzi took second, and Love was third with eleven laps to go. Love would move Scelzi out of the way for second and focused on Perkins. Love would return the favor and bumped Perkins out of the way for the lead just as the caution came out for the fifth time as Holley Hollan spun her car at turn four.
