On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Flyers placed defenseman Mark Friedman on waivers. The 25-year-old from Toronto, Ontario, Canada played four games this season with no points for the Flyers. This comes after the Flyers were blown out in Lake Tahoe by the Boston Bruins 7-3 Sunday night.

The Flyers have gotten back Claude Giroux, and he skated with the team Tuesday morning and is expected to play tomorrow night. The Flyers will now wait to see if any other NHL club claims him. If that happens, the Flyers will take a cap hit of $725,000. If not claimed, he will either head to the Flyers Taxi Squad or head back to the Phantoms. Last year, Friedman played 45 games for Lehigh Valley, scoring three goals and fifteen assists. In total, he’s played in 186 games with the Phantoms, notching ten goals and fifty-one assists.
Philadelphia has been dealing with seven players on the COVID-19 list that included Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek, Travis Konecny, Oskar Lindblom, Scott Laughton Justin Braun. That led to the Flyers calling up several Phantoms players to the Taxi Squad, including Maksim Sushko, David Kase, and Matthew Strome. Yesterday, the Flyers loaned four players back to the Phantoms. With Giroux back, it won’t be long before Justin Braun, who also went on the COVID-19 list the same day as Giroux, returns to the team.
The Flyers return to the ice tomorrow night against the New York Rangers at 8 pm on NBCSN, while the Phantoms will play the Binghamton Devils at 6 pm on AHL.tv.
