In the opening laps of the race, several cars, including Sam Mayer, and Taylor Gray, got loose due to no rubber on the track. In a battle for seventh place, Drew Dollar, Mason Diaz, and Chase Cabre were clashing for the position when Dollar got Diaz loose at turn two to take the seventh position. Diaz would get his car back under control but not before losing the eighth spot to Chase Cabre. In another battle for the fourth spot, Taylor Gray was able to take the position away from Corey Heim, dropping Heim to fifth. Upfront, Ty Gibbs remained in the lead when the first caution came out at lap 32 for the first break. During the break, teams have five minutes to change tires, add fuel, and make adjustments to their cars.

Gibbs led the field back to the restart on lap 75. Gibbs made contact with Mayer going into turn one when Mayer tried to get the lead from Gibbs. During the contact, some debris flew off of Gibbs’s car. Sam Mayer also had damage to the right side of his car. With 20 laps to go, Sam Mayer finally was able to pass Ty Gibbs for the lead at turn three. Gibbs had led all 104 laps to that point. Four laps later, Gibbs would hit the outside wall off of turn two with a flat right-front tire to bring out the third caution of the afternoon and end his day with front right-side damage. His car left fluid on the track, and the race was red-flagged for fifteen minutes.
