The ARCA Menards Series headed to Madison, IL, to the Wide World Technology Raceway at Gateway Saturday evening for the Dutch Boy 150. Owner points set the field as Michael Self was the pole sitter along with his teammate Chandler Smith to make up the front row. Behind them were Sam Mayer starting third, and Taylor Gray in fourth.

Five laps into the race, Hailie Deegan ran into trouble when she bounced off the outside wall at turn two. She was running in fourth at the time of the hit and would lose a couple of spots landing in sixth place. Ty Gibbs would take the lead with an inside pass out of turn three from Michael Self on lap 12.

By lap 35, Ty Gibbs had a 2.283 second lead on Michael Self, who was now clashing with Sam Mayer and Chandler Smith for second. Chandler Smith would get by Michael Self for second place as the caution flag would come out on lap 42 for the first break. During the break, teams have five minutes to change tires, add fuel, and make any adjustments to the cars. Once the break was over, the race resumed on lap 44.

Ty Gibbs picked up where he left off as he began to pull away from Chandler Smith. As the race reached the halfway point, Sam Mayer made a pass on Michael Self at the inside of turn three to take third. The second caution would come out on lap 81 for the second break. After the second break was over, the race got back underway, with 36 laps to go.

Late in the race, Sam Mayer took over second place from Chandler Smith and was now pursuing Ty Gibbs. Sam Mayer needed a caution if he was going to have a chance to pass Ty Gibbs, and he would get that caution when Michael Self got loose off of turn two and slammed into the inside wall with right-side damage.

The race would restart with 13 laps to go. Ty Gibbs quickly got to the inside lane in front of Sam Mayer. Mayer would make contact with the outside wall at turn two and lose a couple of positions to Chandler Smith and Taylor Gray as he now sat in fourth place. Mayer would recover and take third place from Taylor Gray. Ty Gibbs’s lead over Chandler Smith was now 1.480 seconds when Hailie Deegan spun at turn one to bring out the fourth caution with ten laps to go.

The race resumed with six laps to go. Ty Gibbs got in front of Chandler Smith and began to pull away. Gibbs would win his fourth race of the season by 1.716 seconds over Chandler Smith, who finished in second place. Gibbs would lead the last 109 laps after Michael Self led the first twelve laps.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Sam Mayer third, Max McLaughlin fourth, Jesse Love fifth, Bret Holmes sixth, Drew Dollar seventh, Taylor Gray eighth, Hailie Deegan ninth, and Chase Cabre tenth.
Updated point standings with six races to go are Michael Self first (621), Bret Holmes second (-7), Drew Dollar third (-49), Hailie Deegan fourth (-51), Thad Moffitt fifth (-122), Ty Gibbs sixth (-232), Brad Smith seventh (-248), Sam Mayer eighth (-254), Chandler Smith ninth (-284), and Ryan Huff tenth (-366). The ARCA Menards Series will now head to Lebanon I-44 Speedway for the Zinsser SmartCoat 200 next Saturday at 9 pm on MAVTV and NBC Sports Gold Track Pass.
