The NTT IndyCar Series concluded its last doubleheader of the season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for Race Two of the Harvest Grand Prix. Will Power won the pole with a lap time of 1:08.977 seconds at 127.295 mph. Colton Herta qualified second with a lap time of 1:09.102 seconds at 127.065 mph. Josef Newgarden won Race One and was 40-points behind Dixon for the championship.

Ryan Hunter-Reay connected with Scott Dixon on the tenth lap, punching a hole in the left side of the car. Upfront, Power had a 2.790 second lead over Colton Herta by lap 23. Josef Newgarden was running fifth, and Scott Dixon was in eleventh. Other than this incident, it was basically following the leader around the track.

Scheduled green-flag pit stops began on lap 25 with Jack Harvey the first to come in. Power went to pit road a lap later with a six-second lead over Herta, who also pitted with Power. Power was able to maintain the lead leaving pit road. Herta would lose the second spot to Alexander Rossi on lap 28. With 40 laps to go, Power’s lead was now 4.581-seconds over Rossi. On lap 41, Newgarden continued to stay ahead of Dixon, sitting in fifth while Dixon was eighth.
The final scheduled pit stops were underway on lap 50. Will Power came in a lap later with a 3.004 second lead on Rossi, who pitted on the same lap. With the race winding down, Rossi was chasing Power until Colt Herta caught him and passed at turn one with eleven laps to go. Herta was catching Power but would run out of time as Will Power led all 75 laps to get his second win of the season by .8932 seconds. Josef Newgarden finished in fourth, and Scott Dixon finished eighth. Newgarden now trails Dixon by 32-points heading into the final race of the season on October 25th.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Colton Herta second, Alexander Rossi third, Josef Newgarden fourth, Patricio O’Ward fifth, Jack Harvey sixth, Graham Rahal seventh, Scott Dixon eighth, Alex Palou ninth, and Simon Pagenaud tenth. There were no cautions throughout the race.
The NTT IndyCar Series final race of the season is on October 25th for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg at 2:30 pm on NBC.
