The United Soccer League’s League Two announced the addition of AFC Ann Arbor for the 2020 season. The team will compete in the Central Conference Great Lakes Division with their home games played at Concordia University of Ann Arbor.
AFC Ann Arbor Head Coach and Sporting Director Eric Rudland discussed AFC Ann Arbor’s move to USL League Two saying “The move to USL League Two is an exciting new chapter for our club,” Rudland added “The competition will present a welcome new challenge for our players and staff in terms of preparing to play new rivals and shifting how we go about building our roster.”
USL League Two Vice President Joel Nash discussed having AFC Ann Arbor in the USL League Two saying “We are honored to have AFC Ann Arbor bring their professionalism and quality to League Two for 2020,” Nash added “Their community support and executive leadership have built a foundation that has been coupled with on-field success. Their ambition for what the game can do for Ann Arbor is what sets them apart.”
AFC Ann Arbor was established in 2014. Since 2016, the team competed in the National Premier Soccer League in the Midwest Region’s Great Lakes Division. While in the NPSL, AFC Ann Arbor won the Great Lakes Division two times. In 2019, they made the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year, making it to the quarterfinals before being defeated by the Rochester Lancers. The USL League Two schedule will be released at a later date.
