The National Premier Soccer League announced today that Fort Wayne FC as joined the league as an expansion team for the 2020 season. The team will compete in the Midwest Region’s Great Lakes Conference.
“We are thrilled to see the Great Lakes Conference continue to grow with Fort Wayne FC,” NPSL Managing Director Cindy Spera said. “Fort Wayne FC will join the Muskegon Risers as strong additions to our Midwest Region.”
Fort Wayne FC ownership group includes Dr. Erik Magner, John Bellio, Drew Little, Roy Carver, Steve Bermes, Mark Music, Tom Lapsley, and Michael Khorshid. Greg Mauch will serve as the team’s General Manager.
“Fort Wayne FC will add another strong team to the already competitive Great Lakes Conference,” Magner said. “The owners, coaches, and staff of the newly formed Fort Wayne FC expect not only a winning season, but also reaching the postseason stage. Not only will Fort Wayne FC compete successfully, but as part of the community it will generate a positive economic impact for Fort Wayne and its surrounding area and will make Fort Wayne a destination for soccer enthusiasts.”
Fort Wayne FC will play its home games at the Fort Wayne Sport Club that currently seats approximately 800 spectators.
“The NPSL is excited to announce the addition of Fort Wayne FC to the league,” NPSL Director of Membership Development Dina Case concluded. “Fort Wayne FC has a well-organized and strong group of investors with a passion for soccer. They have concentrated on establishing a strong connection to their surrounding community and we are confident that they will bring an exciting product both on and off the field.”
