On Wednesday, the Indoor Football League officially welcomed Prescott Valley as the sixteenth franchise in the IFL to join recent addition Columbus Wild Dogs. This also marks the third team from the state of Arizona to have an IFL team along with the Arizona Rattlers and the Tucson Sugar Skulls. The new team will play its home games at Findlay Toyota Center.
During the announcement, Trey Medlock, President of S&P Sports LLC, spoke at the Findlay Toyota Center saying: “We are extremely excited to be adding another team in the State of Arizona. When the Northern Arizona Suns of the G League decided to leave the area, I thought this would be a great market to join the Tucson Sugar Skulls and Arizona Rattlers who are already in the IFL. We want to reflect the culture and values of the community, so we are asking everyone in the community to submit their ideas for our new name. Our organization is nothing without its fans, so we plan to be involved in the Prescott Valley and quad city community and give back as much as possible.”
IFL Commissioner Todd Tyron was present at the announcement saying, “There are three main objectives we look for when it comes to expansion. Quality of ownership, relationship with the arena, and geographic location. Prescott Valley checks all three of those boxes!”
This is not the first time that Prescott Valley has had an indoor football team. In 2008 in the old American Indoor Football Association, a team called the Arizona Adrenaline played in Prescott Valley. They would win the Western Division and lose to the Wyoming Cavalry in the playoffs. The team would go dormant for two years before joining the Indoor Football League in 2011. During the 2011 season, Nicole Jay became the first female player to score a point in an IFL game. The Adrenaline would finish 1-13 before folding up shop.
