New Jersey Jackals win Can-Am League Championship

The New Jersey Jackals are the 2019 Can-Am League champions defeating the Sussex County Miners 8-7 Saturday night from Skylands Stadium. The Jackals won the series 3-1. This is the Jackals first Can-Am League championship in franchise history.
Breland Almadova singled and advancing to second base on a wild pitch, Mikey Reynolds put the Miners on the board with a single to drive home Almadova to go up 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.
The Jackals would answer back in the top of the second inning when Santiago Chirino drove in Richard Stock with a single to tie the game up at 1-1. Outfielder Alfredo Marte would add to the Jackals lead hitting a single to drive in both Santiago Chirino and Jason Agresti to give the Jackals a 3-1 lead.
The Miners then cut the Jackals lead in the bottom of the third inning as Audy Ciriaco singled to bring home Jose Brizuela to make it a 3-2 Jackals lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, Jackals Centerfielder David Harris started the inning by hitting a single and advancing to second on an error by Miners left fielder Jose Brizuela. Richard Stock then hit a single to bring home Harris to extend the Jackals lead 4-2. The Jackals were not done scoring as Richard Stock would score on a wild pitch to make it a 5-2 lead. Conrad Gregor cleaned the bases with a three-run home run to further extend the Jackals lead 8-2.
The Miners began to chip away at the Jackals huge lead as C.J. Retherford hit a single to bring home Trey Hair to cut the lead to 8-3 in the bottom of the fourth. Miners catcher Gavin Stupienski singled to drive home Jarred Mederos to make it an 8-4 Jackals lead.
The Miners continued to battle back in the bottom of the fifth inning as Jose Brizuela homered out to right field to cut the lead to 8-5. The Miners Jarred Mederos would then hit a single to bring home Mikey Reynolds to make it an 8-6 game.
With the bases loaded for the Miners in the bottom of the sixth inning, The Miners cut the Jackals lead to just one after Jackals pitcher Reece Karalus hit C.J. Retherford to bring home Breland Almadova to make it an 8-7 game.
The Miners would make one last push in the bottom of the ninth inning once again with the bases loaded, but Jose Brizuela flied out to Demetrius Moore for out number three to end the game.
The Jackals Reece Karalus got the win going two innings, allowing two hits, two earned runs, and one walk. The Jackals Dylan Brammer got the save going three innings allowing three hits, one walk, and four strikeouts.
