The National Premier Soccer League announced that North Alabama SC has joined the league for the 2020 season and will play in the South Region. The team will play its home games at John Hunt Park Championship Soccer Stadium in Huntsville, AL.
North Alabama SC formed in 2008 from a merger between two clubs. North Alabama SC also fields a team in the Women’s Professional Soccer League, and they compete in the South Region’s Southeast Conference.
NPSL Managing Director Cindy Spera on the addition of North Alabama SC said “The quality of North Alabama SC and a management group of this caliber demonstrates that our expansion teams are upgrading the overall quality of the league,” she added “We expect North Alabama SC to develop into one of the next great teams to emerge out of the NPSL. We are excited to see their vision and plans become a reality under the NPSL brand.”
Brain Foy, the President of North Alabama SC, discusses what it means for the club to join NPSL, saying, “It is a true soccer community. As a new club competing at this level for the first time, we felt it was paramount to have a true partner in our soccer journey in order to achieve and sustain success at this level. The NPSL league office and its member clubs provide us with immediate partners and the resources and support to be successful. It was evident through the expansion process and our interactions with the league and its clubs that we had found our premier soccer family in the NPSL.”
North Alabama SC is now the sixth team to join the NPSL for the 2020 season along with Fort Wayne FC, Las Vegas Legends FC, Muskegon Risers, Valeo FC, and World Class Premier Elite located in Derwood, MD.
