After suffering an 8-1 loss to the York Revolution Tuesday night, the Skeeters evened the series defeating the Revolution 5-2 Wednesday night at Constellation Field.
After a scoreless first inning, the Revolution got things going starting with Designated hitter Carlos Franco who doubled and then advanced to third base on a wild pitch. Next, shortstop Ryan Dent doubled to center field to score Carlos Franco from third base to put the Revolution up 1-0.
The Skeeters answered back in the bottom of the fourth inning when right fielder Zach Borenstein walked to start off the inning. Borenstein would then steal second base followed by third baseman Juan Silverio who singled to put Borenstein on third base. Skeeters catcher Cody Stanley would then hit a sacrifice fly out to left field to bring home Zach Borenstein to tie the game up at 1-1.
The Skeeters broke the game wide open in the bottom of the fifth inning starting with a bases-loaded walk to Zach Borenstein bringing in Anthony Giansanti to put the Skeeters up 2-1. The Skeeters got another run in when a wild pitch was thrown by Cesar Cabral that extended the Skeeters lead 3-1. Skeeters third baseman Juan Silverio tripled on a line drive out to right field to bring home both Denis Phipps and Zach Borenstein to further the Skeeters lead to 5-1.
The Revolution would get a run back in the top of the sixth inning thanks to a Carlos Franco home run out to left field to cut the Skeeters lead to 5-2.
However, the Revolution did not get on the board again as Skeeters pitcher Dan Runzler was able to get Carlos Franco to ground out and Alvaro Rondon and Ryan Dent to strikeout to end the game. Skeeters pitcher Carlos Pimentel (5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 SO) was the winning pitcher, and Dan Runzler (1 IP, 2 SO) got the save.
