Sugar Land Skeeters win Freedom Division Championship

The Sugar Land Skeeters have advanced to the Atlantic League Championship Finals defeating the York Revolution 5-4 Saturday night at PeoplesBank Park. The Skeeters win the series 3-1.
The Revolution jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to Revolution first baseman Telvin Nash’s solo home run out the left field.
After three scoreless innings since the Revolution had scored, the Skeeters finally got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning when Skeeters left fielder Wynton Bernard hit a solo home run out to right field to tie the game up at 1-1. The Skeeters would then take the lead as Designated hitter Denis Phipps also hit a solo home run out to left field to make it a 2-1.
The Revolution would answer back in the bottom of the fifth inning as Revolution left fielder Zach Sullivan got the inning started by hitting a double to left field to set up a Telvin Nash two-run home run out to left field to put the Revolution back in the lead 3-2.
After a single out to left field by center fielder Anthony Giansanti to start the top of the seventh inning, the Skeeters would then retake the lead as Skeeters right fielder Zach Borenstein hit a two-run home run out to right field to put the Skeeters back up 4-3.
The Revolution would quickly tie up the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning thanks to a solo home run out to left center field by left fielder Zach Sullivan.
The Skeeters would break the tie in the top of the ninth inning as the inning started with an Anthony Giansanti walk, Giansanti would then steal second base. Skeeters third baseman Juan Silverio singled on a ground ball that scored Giansanti on a throwing error by Revolution pitcher Jameson McGrane to put the Skeeters up 5-4.
Skeeters brought in pitcher Felipe Paulino in the bottom of the ninth. Paulino gave up a single to Revolution center fielder Justin Trapp before being able to get second baseman Emmanuel Marrero for out number one on a bunt pop out followed by strikeouts by Telvin Nash and Isaias Tejeda to end the game. Skeeters pitcher Chase De Jong went (6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 7 SO) but did not get the win but pitcher Matt West (1 IP, 1 SO) was the winning pitcher while Felipe Paulino (1 IP, 1 H, 2 SO) got the save.
The Skeeters will now face the Long Island Ducks in Game One of the Atlantic League Championship Finals beginning Tuesday, October 1st from Bethpage Park in Long Island with first pitch set for 6:35 pm.
