Todd Tryon named IFL Commissioner

By Michael Heilman

The Indoor Football League announced that Todd Tryon has been named the new commissioner of the IFL. He is the fourth commissioner in IFL history. Tryon takes over for Michael Allshouse, who resigned last week.

Todd Tryon commented on being named IFL Commissioner saying, “I’m excited for the opportunity I’ve been offered,” he continued saying, “I’ve been in this industry for 20 years, as a player, a coach and owner. Through the years, I’ve developed the experience and skill set which should translate nicely into this position. Mike (Allshouse) has done an outstanding job of laying a solid foundation and my job will be to build on that. I’ve been very active in the expansion process of our league the past two years and will continue to play my part in the growth of the IFL. The IFL is on the verge of something great and I am honored to lead the charge.”

Before becoming commissioner of the IFL, Tryon was the owner of the Sioux Falls Storm for ten years before selling the team to a new ownership group consisting of Jason and Valerie Headlee, David, and Stephanie Richter, and Patrick and Amber Garry. The Storm under Tryon won the IFL United Bowl championship seven times.

Kathy Treankler, Chairwomen of the IFL, stated, “The IFL Board of Directors is excited to see what Todd will bring to the IFL in his new position. Although this will be a new perspective for Todd, we feel he is well suited to take us into the future. We look forward to his leadership and guidance as we grow our national presence.”
