The United Soccer League Championship announced today that they have reached a new three-year agreement with ESPN keeping the USL Championship and USL League One games on ESPN and ESPN+ through the 2022 season. As part of the new three agreement, the USL Championship will air eighteen regular-season games and the USL Championship Final across ESPN2, ESPNews, ESPNU along with Spanish language telecast on ESPN Deportes. All of the remaining USL Championship games will continue to air on ESPN+.
“We are thrilled to continue with ESPN and ESPN+,” said USL Executive Vice President Court Jeske. “USL is an organization that aims to put the fans first and we know that supporters across the country will be very pleased with this new three-year agreement and the exposure it brings.”
In addition to the USL Championship, ESPN will continue to air all USL League One regular season and playoff games on ESPN+. USL League One launched earlier this year with ten teams. Some of the teams that played in the USL Championship are now playing in League One including Toronto FC II, Richmond Kickers, Orlando City B and in 2020 will have Penn FC and Rochester Rhinos.
“We’re delighted to continue our relationship with the United Soccer League, and showcase the USL Championship and USL League One competitions across ESPN networks and ESPN+ through this new agreement,” said Scott Guglielmino, ESPN Senior Vice President, Programming and Acquisitions.
All USL Championship and USL League One games will continue to be produced by USL Productions in South Florida.
