What Teams Should Join The IFL Next Year

Hello everyone and welcome to another blog edition where today I will discuss which teams from other indoor football leagues should consider joining the IFL in 2018 along with division realignments. These are exciting times for the IFL and it’s only fitting to start talking about next year. So without further ado, let’s get started.

With the biggest game in IFL history, United Bowl 9 just one week away, the IFL is looking up and teams from other leagues are taking notice. This season, The Arizona Rattlers moved from the AFL to the IFL this season and are playing the 6 time United Bowl champion Sioux Falls Storm next Saturday in Sioux Falls, SD. Once United Bowl 9 is in the books, it’s time to look ahead for the 2018 season. I hope that the Salt Lake Screaming Eagles and Colorado Crush don’t leave the IFL. What teams from other leagues should consider joining the IFL next season? Here is a list of teams who should consider joining the IFL in 2018.

The Cleveland Gladiators are in the IFL range of having franchise teams and if this were to happen, not only would it continue to have former AFL teams leaving for the IFL. This would be another huge win for the IFL. Cleveland is another major market for the IFL and Cleveland would instantly have good rivalries with Green Bay, Cedar Rapids and reunite with the Iowa Barnstormers and Arizona Rattlers. If Cleveland joined the IFL, they would be placed in the United Conference.

The second team who should consider joining the IFL are the Wichita Force who are located in Wichita, Kansas. The Force play at the Intrust Bank Arena which seats 13,450 fans and would make a nice addition to the IFL. Wichita would be in the United Conference and as a result of this move, the Nebraska Danger would also move to the United Conference and these two teams could be in a nice rivalry. Wichita Force should definitely consider going to the IFL in 2018.

The third team who also should consider joining the IFL in 2018 are the Dallas Marshals. The Marshals currently play at the Mesquite Arena which only holds 5,500 seats in Mesquite, Texas. The reason for adding this team is to give a Texas rivalry to the Wichita Falls Nighthawks. The Marshals would be placed in the United Conference.

The next team who should consider joining the IFL in 2018 is the Amarillo Venom. The Venom would make a return to the IFL since 2012. The Venom currently plays at the Amarillo Civic Center and hold 4,912 seats. The Venom would make the 3rd Texas team to join the IFL and would be placed in the Intense Conference.

The next team who should consider joining the IFL is the Bismarck Bucks. The Bucks play at the Bismarck Event Center which seats 10,100. in Bismarck, North Dakota. The Bucks would make an interesting battle of the Dakotas with the Sioux Falls Storm, who would move to the Intense Conference along with the Bucks.

The final team that should join the IFL in 2018 is the Portland Thunder. Yes, there are rumors that Terry Emmert is about to bring the Portland Thunder back to life and join the IFL. This would be another huge addition for the IFL if the Thunder returned. The Portland Thunder would be placed in the Intense Conference and more likely would play at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon. The Thunder would renew the rivalry with the Spokane Empire and possibly open the door for more future teams in the west.

So, with these teams in the IFL in 2018. Both conferences would have 8 teams separated into 2 divisions. The IFL could expand the playoffs next year and have 4 teams from each conference get into the playoffs. With these teams joining the IFL in 2018, the league would get better and the competition would be filled with rivalries. Here is what both conferences would look like in 2018.
