York Revolution take Game One of Freedom Division Championship Series

The York Revolution dominated Game one of the Freedom Division Championship Series by defeating the Sugar land Skeeters 8-1 in from of 5,074 fans at Constellation Field.

After a scoreless two innings, the Revolution got on the board first in the top of the third inning. Justin Trapp walked, Melky Mesa singled, and Telvin Nash walked to load the bases. Revolution first baseman Isaias Tejeda was then walked by Skeeters pitcher Mike Hauschild to bring home Trapp which put York up 1-0. Third baseman Carlos Franco then singled to center field to bring home Melky Mesa and extended the Revolution lead 2-0.

The Revolution would add two more runs in the top of the fifth inning. Right fielder Melky Mesa was safe at first base on a throwing error by Skeeters third baseman Juan Silverio. Designated hitter Telvin Nash then homered out to left field to extend the Revolution lead to 4-0.

The Skeeters would cut the Revolution lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when centerfielder Anthony Giansanti homered out to left field to make it a 4-1 Revolution lead.

After a scoreless seventh and eighth inning, the Revolution continued to add runs in the top of the ninth inning. Melky Mesa was hit by a pitch, Telvin Nash and Carlos Franco walked followed by shortstop Ryan Dent who singled a ground ball which was deflected by Skeeters pitcher Felipe Paulino to bring home both Mesa and Nash which put the Revolution up 6-1. Revolution second baseman Henry Castillo doubled out to center field to bring home Franco and Dent to further the Revolution lead to 8-1.

The Revolution brought in pitcher Jameson McGrane to finish the game. McGrane was able to get Skeeters designated hitter Denis Phipps to fly out, third baseman Juan Silverio to strikeout for out number two and shortstop Jason Martinson to fly out for out number three to give the York Revolution an 8-1 win.

Revolution pitcher Mitch Adkins (7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 2 SO) was the winning pitcher while Skeeters pitcher Mike Hauschild (6.2 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 7 SO) suffered the loss.

Game 2 of the Freedom Division Championship Series resumes tomorrow night at 8:35 pm from Constellation Field.
