The last person to enter with the Joker card was Mercedes Martinez.

The finish came after Martinez was eliminated by Britt Baker leaving her, Rose and Priestley. Baker eliminated Priestley who was then eliminated by Rose with the help from Priestley. Rose will compete for the AEW Women’s Championship at the first television show October 2nd from Washington, DC.

Pac was a last-minute replacement after Jon Moxley went out with an injury. This match did not disappoint. PAC and Omega were hitting big moves on each other, even hitting the barricade several times in the process. Both men were setting up their finishers only for the other to counter. The finish of the match came when Omega was setting up his finisher One-Winged Angel only for PAC to counter it into the Brutalizer to win by submission.

Jimmy Havoc defeats Joey Janela and Darby Allen

This triple threat match was called the “Cracker Barrel Clash”. The match was more of a hardcore match with all three men using weapons from under the ring. Jimmy Havoc stapled gunned himself, followed by Joey Janela and Darby Allen taping him to a chair and Darby Allen pour thumbtacks in his mouth. Allen would then hit a flipping dive while Havoc was still taped to the chair. Late in the match, Allen would use a barrel to hit Havoc on the steel steps, but Havoc moved out of the way, and Allen crashed through the barrel. Havoc would hit Janela with an Acid Rainmaker for the win.

Dark Order defeats Best Friends

The winner of this match received a bye in the first round of the AEW tag team championship tournament. The Dark Order dominated this match. The crowd was not into this match until Beretta tagged in Chuck Taylor. Dark Order won by hitting their finisher called the Fatality. After the match, the Dark Order Creepers were taking Best Friends to the back when the lights went out again, and Orange Cassidy appeared in the middle of the ring with his hands in his pockets. Cassidy did a dive through the ropes onto the Creepers. The crowd went nuts, and the Best Friends hugged Cassidy.

The winner of this match would go on to face Nyla Rose for the AEW Women’s Championship. Shida got the upper hand early in the match with a running knee and a couple of backbreakers. The two competitors would go on to counter several maneuvers with several backbreakers and running knees. Riho will now face Nyla Rose for the AEW Women’s Championship at the first television show October 2nd on TNT.

Cody Rhodes defeats Shawn Spears w/ Tully Blanchard

Cody Rhodes picked MJF to be in his corner for this match. Before the bell even rang, Rhodes jumped through the middle rope and onto Spears. Tully interfered, and Spears pulled Cody over the barricade, and both men fought in the crowd for several minutes. Both men did eventually make it back to the ring for the match to begin. Spears controlled the match early on with some interference from Blanchard while referee Earl Hebner was dealing with MJF. Cody was taking a beating with Spears using Tully Blanchard belt to whip Rhodes in the back. MJF had enough and fought Blanchard outside of the ring. This led to Double-A Arn Anderson making an appearance and hit his famous spinebuster on Spears. Cody then honored his dad with the bionic elbow drop followed by a Cross Rhodes for the win. After the match, MJF picked up the chair and teased a turn but would drop the chair and hug Cody.

The Lucha Brothers defeat The Young Bucks Escalera De La Muerte ladder match

This latest match between the Young Bucks and Lucha Brothers was for the AAA Tag Team Championship in a ladder match. All four men began taunting one another to start the match. Chaos quickly erupted when both teams performed dives, table spots, ladder spots, and anything you can imagine. There was a scary incident when Nick Jackson of the Young Bucks foot caught the top rope, and his face went into the table. The Lucha Brothers then hit their signature finish on Matt Jackson called a package piledriver. The Lucha Brothers then climbed the ladder to regain their AAA Tag Team Championships. After the match, two masked men attacked both the Lucha Brothers and Young Bucks. After laying out all competitors, the masked men were revealed as LAX’s Santana and Ortiz.

Chris Jericho defeats “Hangman” Adam Page for AEW World Championship

The match began with Jericho playing cat and mouse with Page before Jericho attempted to hit a springboard dive only for Page to move and Jericho hit the floor. Page then tries to hit a shooting star press only for Jericho to counter with knees to the face. Jericho then taunted the crowd as if he won the match. Jericho continued to control the match until Page started trading shots. Page busted Jericho open with a discus punch. Page then hit Jericho with a neckbreaker and went for a pin for only a two count. Page went to set up Jericho with his finisher Dead Eye, but Jericho countered it into the Wall of Jericho. Page reached the ropes for the breakup. Page sent Jericho to the outside going for a moonsault but caught part of Jericho as Page’s knee hit the steel ramp. Back in the ring, Page hit Jericho with the Dead Eye finisher only for another two count. Page also hit Jericho with his Buck Shot lariat move. Page would go for the tie-up, but Jericho caught him a Judas Effect to win the match. After the match, Jericho walks up the ramp posing with the AEW Championship as the show came to a close.

Overall, this was a fun event to watch. There were several candidates for match of the year including Private Party vs Angelico and Jack Evans, Bucks vs Lucha Brothers, Omega vs Pac, Allen vs Janela vs Havoc, Page vs Jericho and Spears vs Rhodes. There are several storylines going into the first television show on October 2nd on TNT. AEW’s next pay-per-view will be on November 9th called Full Gear from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD.
