The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was at New Hampshire Motor Speedway Saturday afternoon for the Musket 200. Andy Seuss won the pole with a lap time of 29.521 at 129.020 mph. Starting next to him was Chase Dowling, who had a lap time of 29.629 at 128.550.

Two laps into the race, the first caution would come out for the No. 01 car of Melissa Fifield as her car had stopped in between turns three and four. Track crews took several minutes to clean up the fluid that was left by Fifield’s car. Once cleanup was complete, the race resumed on lap 14 with Andy Seuss still in the lead. The race only lasted a couple of the laps before the second caution would come out as Jon McKennedy, and Woody Pitkat made contact sending Pitkat into the outside wall at turn one. His car had damage to the left front suspension and would finish the day in 29th place.

The race resumed on lap 20 with Seuss still in the lead. Chase Dowling challenged Seuss for the lead on lap 22 but was unsuccessful and remained in second place. Four laps later, Justin Bonsignore used the inside lane at turn one to take second place away from Dowling. On lap 31, Bonsignore would take the lead away from Seuss while Dowling went to second place, Anthony Nocella went to third place while Seuss was now sitting in the fourth spot.

For the next several laps, Chase Dowling and Justin Bonsignore would take turns leading the race when the third caution of the day would come out on lap 68 for the No. 56 car of Amy Catalano, who stopped at turn four. During the caution, all of the leaders went to pit road. The race would get back underway on lap 74 with Bonsignore still in the lead with Craig Lutz in second.

Dowling got by Lutz for second on lap 83, and both Bonsignore and Dowling picked up where they left. On lap 94, Dowling would use the inside lane off of turn four to take the lead away from Bonsignore. Four laps later, the caution would come out again for the fourth time as Ron Silk, and Tommy Catalano got together at turn one. Catalano’s day was done and would finish in 24th place while Ron Silk escaped with no damage to the car. During the caution, the leaders would come back to pit road for their stops.

Matt Swanson was the new leader when the race resumed with 97 laps to go. From laps 129 to 152, Swanson and Patrick Emerling took turns leading laps when the fifth caution came for Doug Coby with a flat left front tire. During the caution, the leaders would pit again for four tires.

The race would get back underway with 43 laps to go with Jon McKennedy in the lead. Two laps into the restart, Chase Dowling took the lead away from McKennedy. McKennedy would take the lead back a couple of laps later. Craig Lutz would take the second position away from Dowling before passing McKennedy on the inside lane for the lead with 38 laps to go. Lutz and McKennedy would battle for three-laps exchanging the lead before Bobby Santos passed both cars to take the lead with 33 laps to go.

Ron Silk would use the inside lane at turn one to take the second spot away from Craig Lutz. Just as Silk settled for second, Justin Bonsignore got by both Lutz and Silk for second with under 30 laps to go. Bonsignore would catch and pass Santos for the lead with 20 laps to go. Both Bonsignore and Santos would exchange spots for several laps before Santos regained the lead with ten laps to go and didn’t look back. He would go on to win the race by .301 seconds over Justin Bonsignore.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Ron Silk third, Anthony Nocella fourth, Craig Lutz fifth, Andy Seuss sixth, Matt Swanson seventh, Jon McKennedy eighth, Doug Coby ninth, and Tyler Rypkema tenth. There were five cautions for 30 laps and 35 lead changes.
Point standings after the race are Justin Bonsignore with a 27-point lead over Doug Coby. Jon McKennedy is third (-39), Craig Lutz fourth (-45), Dave Sapienza fifth (-65), Matt Swanson sixth (-76), Calvin Carroll seventh (-75), Chris Pasteryak and Anthony Nocella are tied for eighth (-86), and Ron Silk tenth (-88). The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will now head to Stafford Motor Speedway with two races left in the regular season on Saturday, September 26th, for NAPA Auto Parts 150 at 6 pm on NBC Sports Gold Track Pass.
