The Boston Pride dominated the Minnesota Whitecaps Saturday night in a 3-1 victory at the Warrior Ice Arena in Boston, MA.
The Pride got on the board six minutes into the first period as Alyssa Wohlfeiler shot the puck over the goalie’s shoulder to give the Pride a 1-0 lead. Mary Parker assisted in Wohlfeiler’s goal. This would be the only goal scored in the first period as the Pride went into the locker room with a 1-0 lead.
Boston would add another goal in the second period when Mallory Souliotis passed the puck to Jillian Dempsey, who then passed the puck to McKenna Brand and scored to give the Pride a 2-0 lead. This would be the only goal scored in the second period as the Pride had a 2-0 lead on the Whitecaps at the end of the second period.
A little over a minute into the third period, the Pride added an insurance goal when Mallory Souliotis got her second assist of the game passing the puck to Kaleigh Fratkin, who shot the puck past Whitecaps goalie Amanda Leveille to put the Pride up 3-0. With under three minutes left in the game, the Whitecaps finally scored to prevent the shutout as Allie Thunstrom scored on a breakaway goal to cut the Pride’s lead to 3-1. When the final horn went off, the Boston Pride defeated the Minnesota Whitecaps 3-1 to send the fans home happy.
The three stars of the game were Boston forward McKenna Brand, who had one goal, Boston defender Mallory Souliotis had two assists and Boston goalie Lovisa Selander, who saved forty-seven shots out of forty-eight allowing one goal.
These two teams will go at it again Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm from the Warrior Ice Arena. The game will be on the NWHL Twitch channel.
