A day after winning his third race of the season at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Brad Keselowski and Team Penske have reached a contract extension that will keep Keselowski with the organization. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Keselowski has been in the Cup Series since 2008. In 2009, he got his first NASCAR Cup Series win at Talladega for James Finch Racing. In 2010, he competed in his first full-time season with Team Penske as he won a pole and had two top-ten finishes. During his stint with Penske in both the Cup and Xfinity, he has combined for 65 wins, a Xfinity Series Championship in 2010, and the NASCAR Cup Series Championship in 2012.
In a statement by Roger Penske, he was happy to see Brad Keselowski stay with the team, saying, “We are pleased that Brad will continue to be a part of our organization. Brad not only demonstrates talent and skill on the track, but his leadership away from it and his dedication to our partners have had a huge impact in making our organization one of the best in NASCAR. I am proud that we will be able to able to keep the continuity we have with Brad, Ryan (Blaney) and Joey (Logano) and we look forward to competing for more wins and championships together.”
Brad Keselowski also released a statement on staying with Penske as he says he has another goal he would like to accomplish with Team Penske. “We’ve accomplished a lot of things together over the years, including winning both the Cup and Xfinity Championships, the Brickyard 400, the Southern 500 and the Coca-Cola 600. Now, my goal is to win the Daytona 500, another championship, and continue to build Team Penske into the best NASCAR team in the garage area.”
Keselowski is currently locked in the playoffs sitting in third place behind Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick. The Cup Series will head to Keselowski’s home state of Michigan at Michigan International Speedway for a doubleheader weekend, where he has won twice in the Xfinity Series but never in the Cup Series. He will look to change that starting Saturday at 4 pm on NBCSN.
