The National Women’s Hockey League kicked off the 2019 season with the Buffalo Beauts defeating the Connecticut Whale 3-1 Saturday afternoon at Danbury Ice Arena.
After Beauts Forward Taylor Accursi went to the penalty box on a two-minute minor, The Beauts would score on a Connecticut power play when Defender Lenka Curmova scored with an assist by Forward Becki Bowering to put the Beauts up 1-0.
Connecticut would tie the game up in the second period when Forward Grace Klienbach, with an assist from Forward Emma Vlasic to even the score at 1-1.
The Beauts would break the tie late in the third period with a goal by Forward Brooke Stacey with an assist from Forward Iveta Klimasova to put Buffalo up 2-1. The Beauts would add one more goal on an empty net by Forward Corinne Buie with an assist by Taylor Accursi to seal the game at 3-1.
Buffalo Beauts Goalie Mariah Fujimagari stopped 12 of 13 shots on goal. The Beauts return to action next Saturday, October 12th, against the Boston Pride at Warrior Ice Arena with the puck dropping at 6:30 pm on Twitch.
