Cody Ware to race full-time in Cup Series for Rick Ware Racing

On Monday, Rick Ware Racing announced that Cody Ware will race full-time in the Cup Series, driving the No. 51 Nurtec ODT Chevrolet Camaro. The 25-year-old from Greensboro, NC, competed in two races in both the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series while racing full-time for his dad’s team in the Asian Le Mans Series. Ware made all four starts in the Asian Le Mans Series season, winning two races, four podiums on his way to winning the championship. In 2014, Ware was named Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Rookie of the Year.

Ware has competed in all three NASCAR series with fifty-one starts (23 in Cup, 21 in Xfinity, and seven in the Truck Series). In his two NASCAR races in 2020, he scored one top-ten finish in his lone race in the Xfinity Series, finishing in seventh place at the Charlotte Roval. His only Cup Series start came at Talladega in 2020 and finished in 19th place.

Ware commented on the full-time ride said, “I am pumped to head to Daytona International Speedway with Biohaven as our primary sponsor. As a person with migraine, it’s even more meaningful for me to drive the Nurtec ODT #51 car to raise awareness of this debilitating disease, especially at the biggest race of the year. We have a lot of exciting things planned for 2021, and I look forward to competing in the NASCAR Cup Series again.”

Heading into the 2021 season, Ware will compete full-time in the Cup Series and appear in the upcoming IMSA Rolex 24 at Daytona, where he will team with fellow Cup Series driver Austin Dillon and 24 Hours of Le Mans GTE-AM winner Salih Yoluc.

The 24 Hours at Daytona starts on Saturday, January 30th at 3 pm on NBC, NBCSN, NBC Sports App, and NBC Sports Gold Track Pass. The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series starts its season on Sunday, February 14th, at 2:30 pm on FOX.
