Craig Lutz wins the Laurel Highlights 150 at Jennerstown Speedway

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour would once again come to Jennerstown Speedway for the Laurel Highlights 150 Saturday night. Justin Bonsignore won the pole with a time of 18.238 at 103.038 mph. Dave Sapienza was starting next to him with a time of 18.292 at 102.733 mph.

The race was caution-free for the first 87 laps until debris brought out the first caution. The race would resume on lap 95 with Bonsignore leading every lap so far. The second caution came out at lap 105 for an accident from the No. 24 car of Andrew Krause. Bonsignore would lead 110 laps before Craig Lutz would take over the lead on lap 111.

The restart only lasted thirteen laps until the third caution came out for a spin at turn two by the No. 25 car of Calvin Carroll. On the restart at lap 128, Dave Sapienza led a lap before Lutz resumed the lead. Lutz would lead the last 22 laps to take his first victory of the season in the Laurel Highlights 150 by .280 seconds over Dave Sapienza.

The top ten finishers were Anthony Nocella third, Doug Coby fourth, Justin Bonsignore fifth, Jon McKennedy sixth, Matt Swanson seventh, Tyler Rypkema eighth, Kyle Ebersole ninth, and Chris Pasteryak tenth. There were three lead changes and three cautions for 17 laps.
Doug Coby leads Justin Bonsignore by eight points in the standings. Ron Silk is third (-62), Craig Lutz fourth (-76), Matt Swanson fifth (-139), Eric Goodale sixth (-143), Timmy Solomito seventh (-148), Patrick Emerling eighth (-177), Chris Pasteryak ninth (-178), and Blake Barney tenth (-198). The NASCAR Modified Tour will now head to Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire next Saturday for the Advanced Gas Distributors Inc. 200 Wade Cole Memorial at 8:30 pm on NBC Sports Gold Track Pass.
