Denny Hamlin wins pole for YellaWood 500

Denny Hamlin won the pole for this Sunday’s YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway in the second race in the Round of 12 playoffs that will air at 2 pm on NBC. He won the pole by virtue of a metric qualifying system that takes into account the drivers finishing positions from previous races, team owner points, and fastest laps of earlier races. Last week’s winner Kurt Busch will start second. Here is the rest of the starting lineup.
