Justin Bonsignore leads the last 25 laps to win at Monadnock Speedway

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour made its way to Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, NH, for the Advanced Gas Distributors Inc. 200. On the pole for the race was Jon McKennedy, who had a lap time of 12.781 at 70.417 mph. Starting next to him was Justin Bonsignore, who had a lap time of 12.810 at 70.258 mph.

Nine laps into the race, Ron Silk took over second place from Justin Bonsignore. The first caution of the afternoon came out on lap 27 for a spin at turn four by the No. 01 car of Melissa Fifield. She went out of the race with power steering issues and finished 28th. Jon McKennedy was still leading as the race resumed on lap 32.

Ron Silk was gaining up on McKennedy and trailed by just .52 seconds on lap 55. Seven laps later, Silk would make a move to the inside of turn four of McKennedy to take the lead. McKennedy had led all 61 laps. The No. 64 car of Rob Summers spun around at turn four to bring out the second caution of the afternoon.

The race would get back underway on lap 76. Silk had the lead, while Justin Bonsignore passed Jon McKennedy for second position a lap into the restart. Silk’s lead over Bonsignore was now down to .48 seconds. Doug Coby would take the third spot away from McKennedy on the inside lane at turn two. With 91 laps to go, both Silk and Bonsignore were now dealing with lapped traffic.

The No. 07 car of Patrick Emerling made contact with the No. 4 car of Jeff Gallup and spun around at turn four to bring out the third caution of the day. Ron Silk would lead the field back to the restart on lap 128.

The restart only lasted six laps before the fourth caution would come out as the No. 25 car of Calvin Carroll and the No. 64 car of Rob Summers both made contact on the front stretch. The race had just resumed on lap 140, and the cars didn’t even complete a lap when the fifth caution came out for Rob Summers spin at turn four. Summers’s car was overheating, and he exited out of the race finishing in 22nd place.

Ron Silk would once again bring the field back to green on lap 145. The restart only lasted six laps before the seventh caution was out for a spin at the backstretch by the No. 4 car of Jeff Gallup. The race resumed on lap 155 with Silk still in the lead. Five laps later, the No. 1 car of Woody Pitkat would take the fourth position away from the No. 75 car of Chris Pasteryak. Pasteryak would run into more trouble as he was hit in the left rear by the No. 60 car of Matt Hirschman causing Pasteryak to spin and hit the No. 22 car of Kyle Bonsignore. Matt Hirschman then moved down the track and hit the No. 58 car driven by Eric Goodale.

Once the smoke cleared, it was time to get back to racing with 34 laps to go. Ten laps into the restart, Justin Bonsignore would use the inside lane at turn two to take the lead. Silk had led 114 laps. Once Bonsignore’s car got clean air, his car was gone. He would lead the last 25 laps to win the race by 1.085 seconds over Ron Silk, who finished in second place.

The rest of the top ten finishers were Doug Coby third, Anthony Nocella fourth, Ronnie Williams fifth, Matt Hirschman sixth, Woody Pitkat seventh, Sam Rameau eighth, Jon McKennedy ninth, and Craig Lutz tenth. There were two lead changes and seven cautions for 40 laps.

Point Standings right now is Doug Coby has an eight-point lead over Justin Bonsignore. Ron Silk is third (-62), Craig Lutz fourth (-76), Matt Swanson fifth (-139), Eric Goodale sixth (-143), Timmy Solomito seventh (-148), Patrick Emerling eighth (-177), Chris Pasteryak ninth (-178), and Blake Barney tenth (-198). The NASCAR Modified Tour will now head to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Thompson, CT, for a Wednesday night showdown for the Thompson 150 at 8 pm on NBC Sports Gold Track Pass.
