NASCAR selects three new members for Hall of Fame Class of 2021

On Tuesday, the NASCAR Hall of Fame selected three new members for the Class of 2021. They are Dale Earnhardt Jr., Red Farmer, and Mike Stefanik. Under the new voting rules, nominees are divided into two categories, the Modern Era and the Pioneer Era. Two were chosen from a field of ten in the Modern Era and one in the Pioneer Era for those who have been in NASCAR sixty years or more.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. won 26 career Cup Series wins, including the Daytona 500 twice. Other accomplishments achieved being a 15-time most popular Driver of the Year, two-time NASCAR Busch Series (now Xfinity Series) champion, four-straight wins at Talladega from Fall 2001 to Spring 2003. After Earnhardt Jr. retired from full-time competition in 2017, he owns a team JR Motorsports and won five Xfinity championships as an owner.

Mike Stefanik was an accomplished driver racing in different NASCAR series, including the Xfinity Series, and the Gander RV & Outdoors Trucks Series. Where he made a name for himself was in the Whelen Modified Series and the Busch North Series (Now the ARCA Menards East Series). Stefanik won 74 career Modified Series wins, winning the championship seven-times in his 29-year career. In the Busch North Series, he had 12 career wins and two championships in 1997 and 1998. Sadly, Stefanik is no longer with us as he passed away on September 15, 2019, at the age of 61.

Red Farmer was a member of the Alabama Gang and competed in the Cup Series from 1953 to 1975. He had two top-five finishes and three top-ten finishes. Farmer has more than 750 career wins. Farmer competed in the Late Model Sportsman Division (now the Xfinity Series) and won the championship for three straight years from 1969 to 1971. He also won the NASCAR Modified Title in 1956. From 1981 to 1993, he competed in the ARCA Menards Series from 1981 to 1993 and again in 2002 and 2004 with two career wins, 11 top-five finishes, and 17 top-ten finishes. Details for the Hall of Fame ceremony will be released soon.
