On Saturday, the Philadelphia Phillies brought back shortstop Didi Gregorius for a two-deal deal worth $28 million. The 30-year-old from Amsterdam, Netherlands, played 60 games and made 215 at-bats in 237 plate appearances. He hit .284/.339 OBP/.488 SLG/.827 OPS to go with ten home runs, 40 RBI’s, ten doubles, three triples, and 61 hits.

Gregorius will enter his tenth season and second with the Phillies. He has also spent time with the Cincinnati Reds, Arizona Diamondbacks, and the New York Yankees. His lifetime batting average is .265/.315 OBS/.433 SLG/.748 OBS with 120 home runs, 457 RBI’s, 33 stolen bases, 877 hits in 3,619 plate appearances.
This move is the latest for the Phillies this week; they were able to bring back catcher J.T Realmuto and signed pitcher Matt Moore to a one-year deal yesterday. To make room for Gregorius, the Phillies traded shortstop Kyle Holder to the Cincinnati Reds for cash considerations. The team also traded pitcher Cole Irvin to the Oakland Athletics for cash considerations.
The Phillies first Spring Training game will be on Saturday, February 27th, against the Toronto Blue Jays. The first regular-season game will be on Thursday, April 1st, against the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park.
