Phillies sign reliever Archie Bradley to a one-year deal

On Thursday, the Phillies announced the signing of relief pitcher Archie Bradley to a one-year, $6 million deal to bolster the bullpen. The 28-year-old from Muskogee, OK, spent the 2020 season with both the Arizona Diamondbacks and Cincinnati Reds with a 2-0 record in sixteen games with a 2.95 ERA in 18.1 innings pitched, along with eighteen strikeouts and six saves.

In 2019, he took over the closer’s role from Greg Holland. He finished the 2019 season with a 3.52 ERA in 71.2 innings, playing 66 games with eighteen saves and 87 strikeouts. He was traded from the Diamondback to the Red on August 31st, 2020, for two players. He averages a 94-mph fastball, a knuckle curveball around 80 mph, along with some sinkers and changeups.
